Fruška gora was once an island in the Pannonian Sea, and today it represents a dominant land mass in the heart of the Pannonian plain, with the highest peak of 539 meters. Its ridge stretches for 75 kilometers, while the slopes are overgrown with dense forests of oak, hornbeam, linden, and beech. The mountain is adorned with numerous springs and streams, whose gurgle echoes most beautifully at the beginning of spring.

On this hiking tour, we will visit three famous monasteries of Fruška Gora - Grgeteg, Velika Remeta, and Krušedol - following a circular path through picturesque landscapes. This route combines history, spirituality, and natural beauty, providing a unique experience of this unique region.

Additional notes:

Equipment for the tour of the Three Monasteries of Fruška Gora: Deep hiking shoes or sports sneakers with a stronger sole, backpack, and layered clothing, adapted to weather conditions, bring enough water (1.5-2 l) and some food (snacks, sandwiches, fruit).

A minimum of 18 registrants is required for the Three Monasteries of Fruška Gora tour.
Own transportation: If you come with your own transport, the tour price is 2700 dinars.
Accident insurance: in order for this type of insurance to be active, you need to send us your personal number (JMBG) when registering.
In case of an insufficient number of registered passengers or unfavorable weather conditions, the deadline for notification of postponement or cancellation of the tour is 3 days before departure.
Trip cancellations by passengers:
- In case of cancellation of the trip by the passenger, 5 or more days before the tour date, the Agency retains the amount of 20% of the reservation costs.
- In case the traveler cancels the trip less than 5 days before the trip, the agency reserves the right to the entire amount. In case of replacement by another passenger who is found either by the passenger himself or by the Agency, 90% of the paid amount is returned to the passenger.
- In case of illness of the passenger and cancellation up to 3 days before the tour, the paid money can be returned or the amount can be transferred for another tour organized by the Agency, and the traveler is obliged to send medical documentation about the illness in writing. In case of illness of the traveler and cancellation less than 3 days before the tour, in addition to sending medical documentation about the illness, the traveler is obliged to compensate the Agency for the incurred costs (transportation and travel organization costs), and part of the money can be refunded.

According to Article 79 of the Law on Tourism, protection is not provided for one-day tours in terms of travel guarantees.

Belgrade - Fruška Gora

A journey towards Fruška Gora. After an hour's drive, we arrive at the starting point of the walking tour at Grgeteg Monastery.
The Grgeteg Monastery was founded in the 15th century and is attributed to the despotic lineage of Branković. The monastery is known for its miracle-working icon of the Mother of God. Throughout history, it has been renovated several times and has significant cultural and spiritual significance for the Serbian people.

Hiking tour of the Three Monasteries on Fruška Gora

Departure for a hike from Grgeteg Monastery to Velika Remeta Monastery, through dense oak and beech forests. The path leads along a wide forest path, with a gentle ascent and descent, ideal for a leisurely walk. In spring, the path is full of flowers and greenery. The last part of the path leads through a pine forest and follows a gentle descent that leads us to the spacious monastery gate.
We will pass this part of the trail in about 2 hours. Tour of the Velika Remeta monastery, which is the oldest monastery on Fruška Gora, was founded according to tradition in the 13th century by King Dragutin. Known for the highest church tower in Srem and the iconostasis from the 18th century. It is surrounded by lush forests and has a source of fresh water.
From the Velika Remeta monastery, we start on an easy path through a mixed forest. After a few kilometers, we reach gentle meadow glades with views of Fruška Gora. On the last part of the road, before the Krušedol monastery, we cross a short section of asphalt road that leads to the entrance to the monastery.
Tour of the Krušedol Monastery, which is one of the most important Serbian monasteries, an endowment of the Branković family from the 16th century. Members of the noble family and Serbian patriarchs are buried in it. The monastery has precious frescoes and icons.
After that, the continuation of the hike towards Grgeteg monastery. This part of the route is somewhat more demanding due to the gradual ascent towards the ridge of Fruška Gora, but the reward is the beautiful viewpoints that open up along the way.
When we reach the highest point of this section, there is a gentle descent towards Grgeteg Monastery. The road passes through forest glades, and during the spring you can come across rich vegetation and meadow flowers. This part of the tour brings a complete sense of peace, as we slowly return to the starting point - Grgeteg Monastery, where we end our circular hilking tour.
The hiking tour belongs to the easy category, with a total duration of about 5 to 6 hours with breaks. It is 13 km long, with about 350 m of ascent and descent.
After the hike, a late afternoon lunch can be organized in a nearby restaurant with traditional Srem cuisine.
Return to Belgrade where we arrive around 8 pm.
