Rafting on the river Lim, Kamena Gora, Uvac Canyon

Weekend tour: 09th – 11th June 2017

Experience with us adventurous rafting on Lim River staying in a beautiful mountain village, Kamena Gora. We’ll take you in hiking and boat tour of Uvac canyon, which is known by its meanders and the habitat of the griffon vulture.

 

DAY ONE (Friday 09th June): Ruma – Novi Sad – Belgrade – Kamena Gora

Departure from Novi Sad at 3 PM and from the municipality New Belgrade at 4.30 PM toward Prijepolje city in South-Western Serbia.

We will arrive in the village Kamena Gora (Stone Hill) which is at 1400 m in the evening.  Accommodation in Ethno houses from the beginning of 20th century and in shepherds’ old houses. Stay overnight.

DAY TWO (Saturday 10th June): Rafting tour Kumanica – Brodarevo

Breakfast. Departure at 10 AM to the monastery Kumanica where starts rafting on the river Lim. Preparation and instruction for the rafting tour. Rafting from the monastery Kumanica to Brodarevo through Kumanica’s Gorge (25 km, lasting from 2 to 4 hours depending on water level). We will pass the most beautiful part of Lim valley. After the rafting tour, returning to Kamena Gora where we will have a traditional lunch prepared by a host. Free time Free time hiking or other activities, visiting the Old Pine, the symbol of the village, which is 500 years old. Stay overnight.

DAY THREE (Sunday 11th June): Kamena Gora – Uvac Canyon (a boat and hiking tour) -Belgrade

Breakfast. Leaving Kamena Gora, transfer to Uvac Canyon (around 1.5h).

A combination of hiking and boat tour in this special nature reserve known by its meanders and the griffon vulture’s habitat. A boat drive on Uvac Lake, bird watching, visiting Ledena pećina (Icy cave) and the most attractive viewpoints: Veliki Vrh and Molitva, from where is the best view to Uvac’s meanders. After the tour, lunch at the restaurant on Uvac Lake. In the afternoon departure to Belgrade where we will arrive in the evening.

  • Transportation from Ruma and Belgrade
  • Two overnights in domestic households/ethno houses in Kamena Gora
  • Rafting tour, rubber boat with additional equipment (safety belts, helmets, neoprene suits, and boots) and professional rafting skippers
  • A tour guide and local guides for hiking in Uvac Canyon and boat drive on Uvac Lake
  • Taxes for special natural reserve

Not included in price:

  • Food (it is possible to order food from our hosts in the village for affordable prices)
  • Other individual costs

Additional notes:

  • We organize transportation from Novi Sad as well, for minimum 10 passengers (additional payment is 1000 RSD)
  • The rafting includes clothes that dry up quickly and does not soak too much water. Lim rafting does not require previous rowing experience. During the slope every boat includes a licensed rafting skipper that will control the boat and take care of safety; rafting is performed with rubber unsinkable boats specially designed for wild waters. The boat capacity is 10-12 persons. Before the start, skippers hold a short course on rafting and it is important that the participants honor the instructions they receive from the skipper
  • If someone doesn’t want to perform rafting the price decreases for 1000 RSD.

What are you going to see?

Kamena Gora (Stone Hill)

This beautiful village in the South-West part of Serbia has wonderful sceneries for hiking, biking; there is a natural rock for climbing as well a place for paragliding.

Part of Kamena Gora is covered with conifer’s forests. The most known wood species in Kamena Gora is its old pine, 500 years old. It is the symbol of the village, proof of longevity of inhabitants.

Uvac Canyon

Uvac is Special Nature Reserve known by its meanders with a height of up to 100 m. The canyon is the habitat of 104 bird species, most notably the Griffon Vulture – vulture species, with a wingspan of 3 meters, which role in the food chain in the ecosystem is irreplaceable – it only feeds on dead animals, which prevents the spread of infection and it is important in “natural recycling.” Ice cave is part of Uvac cave system, the longest cave system in the country (6185 m). It is rich in cave ornaments.
