The landscapes of Durmitor represent one of the most authentic and stunning parts of nature in this region of Europe. Durmitor National Park encompasses the central mountain massif of Durmitor, parts of the Jezerska plateau, Piva mountain, and the spectacular canyons of the Grabovica, Komarnica, and Tara rivers. Durmitor boasts 18 glacial lakes, known as ‘mountain eyes,’ at altitudes above 1,500 meters. The crystal-clear and cold water, together with untouched nature, makes them the true gems of the mountain. The largest and most beautiful among them is the Black Lake, named after the dark reflection of the dense coniferous forests that surround it.

Piva Nature Park is a true gem of Montenegro. Located near Plužine, it is renowned for the spectacular Piva Lake, surrounded by cliffs and lush forests. The park also features the canyon of the Piva River, one of the deepest in Europe, making it an ideal destination for adventure and nature enthusiasts. Hiking trails, untouched nature, and the tranquility it offers make it a perfect escape from everyday life.

On this exciting tour, during three days of active hiking, true mountaineering enthusiasts will conquer the peaks of Mali and Veliki Međed. Meanwhile, those who prefer moderate trails can enjoy a climb to Prutaš or a leisurely walk around the Black Lake.

To wrap up this adventure, we will explore the natural beauty of Piva Nature Park. Adventurers will have the chance to tackle the new and exciting via ferrata Piva, while hiking enthusiasts can enjoy a trekking tour to the Stabna Lakes and the katun at Kruščica. via ferrata Piva explore Balkans

    • The trail begins with a gentle ascent through the forest to the Kaluđerska vrela spring, then continues along the canyon with spectacular views of the river. The final section includes a vertical climb of 80 meters, with a panoramic platform at 50 meters in height. The via ferrata is approximately 900 meters long and takes about 2.5 hours to complete.
    • The first section of the via ferrata starts right at the bridge over the Piva River, descending a steep forest trail to Kaluđerska Vrela, which flows into the Piva. Here, there is a gazebo with benches and tables where guests can take a break and refresh themselves with cold water from the spring.
    • The via ferrata then continues with a traverse above the Piva River itself, where you might get splashed and cooled by the cold river water when the turbines at the Mratinje Dam are operating.
    • The final, third section of the via ferrata is an 80-meter vertical climb located near the bridge, and the via ferrata ends at the top of this vertical section. This vertical climb is not very demanding but is highly attractive. One part includes a slight overhang, which is also not very challenging (grade C).
