Maganik
Location
Maganik is a mountain range located in the central part of Montenegro, about 30 km east of Nikšić. This range stretches between the rivers Zeta, Morača, and Mrtvica, offering a beautiful view of the surroundings. Maganik stands out for its unique appearance and impressive massif.
Maganik is known for his inaccessibility. The rocks of this mountain range are very dangerous and sharp in some places, which makes it challenging for mountaineers. However, despite this, Maganik is surrounded by numerous katuns that come to life during the summer months.
Maganik is a separate group of impressive limestone formations. The canyon slopes of the river Mrtvica created a rich vertical jagged mass of Maganik that looks terrifying. The relief of this range is enriched with deep karst depressions, valleys, and funnel-shaped depressions.
Tresteni Peak on Mount Maganik is considered the area of the best-developed karst erosion in Montenegro. The top is in the shape of a karst plateau, dotted with karst erosional forms such as scarp, pits, and scarp wells, several hundreds of meters deep. These natural phenomena are deep and terrifying, with precipices that make access difficult.
Sinjajevina is a mountain in the north of Montenegro, which adjoins the Durmitor area. It is a vast mountain that lies between the Tara Canyon, the Drobnjački Lakes, the Tušina River, and the sides of Gornja Morača and Pčinja. Most of Sinjajevina is a plateau, where sinkholes alternate with grass cover. It belongs to the first pasture and livestock mountains, where spring and summer katuns are located.
On this weekend's tour, we will go on a challenging climb to Medjedji and Tresteni Peak where you will have the opportunity to experience the unique landscapes and peaks of Maganik. Tresteni Peak itself is reminiscent of space landscapes with its unique relief.
On the second day, we will go to Sinjajevina, a vast Montenegrin karst mountain with numerous pastures. We will climb to the top of Jablan at 2203 m. The route is technically less demanding compared to the previous day.
This mountaineering weekend tour, only for a selected group of experienced hikers, will provide you with an unforgettable experience in one of the most impressive parts of Montenegrin nature.
