Besna Kobila, Vardenik and Vlasina

We will discover whether Besna Kobila is harsh, or whether it is a tame mountain located in the very southeast of our country on a two-day hiking tour during which we will hike, visit Vlasina Lake, sleep at 1480 m above sea level, and enjoy the benefits of the nature of this region. 

Besna Kobila is located near Vranje, east of the Vranjska spa, which is characterized by the highest water temperature in Serbia (up to 110 degrees Celsius). This mountain is one of the highest mountains in Serbia, and its highest peak is 1923 meters above sea level, from the same view it reaches the Šar mountain, Prokletije, Kopaonik, Rila...

Mount Vardenik or as it is called otherwise the roof of Vlasina is another mountain in a series that surrounds the beautiful Vlasina Lake. Its highest peak is Veliki Strešar, with an altitude of 1876 m. Due to its conical shape, this peak is extremely recognizable and noticeable. From the top, the view reaches to Čemernik, Suva mountain, Besna Kobila, Sar mountain, Kukavica, and even to Rila and Pirin mountain in Bulgaria. What this peak is also known for is its famous wind rose, which is formed throughout the year. 

The Vlasina lake with an altitude of 1213 m is our largest and highest artificial mountain lake. It is located in the southeast of Serbia, in the municipality of Surdulica. 

Just some of the rivers that with their tributaries make up the basin of the lake are Vlasina, Jerma, Lisinska reka, Čemerčica... The lake is surrounded by beautiful nature, with forests, meadows, and mountain peaks that provide spectacular landscapes and enable numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, driving cycling, hiking, and camping.

Have you had the chance to see the "floating islands" yet?

Floating or peat islands, as they are also called, are a real natural phenomenon on Vlasina Lake. Namely, these are parts of the land that change their position, by floating on the lake, unattached to the lake bed.

Additional notes:

• Equipment for Besna Kobila, Vardenik and Vlasina tour: Deep hiking shoes with Vibram soles, we recommend trekking poles, adequate clothing according to the weather conditions. A backpack with the necessary hiking equipment for a two-day hike, enough water (1.5-2 l per day), energy bars, fruit, spare t-shirts, long hiking pants, raincoat, headlamp, sunscreen, hat or cap.

• First day – climb to Vardenik

• This tour is organized for a minimum of 18 registered passengers.
• In case of unfavorable weather conditions, lack of snow, or insufficient number of registered passengers, the deadline for notification of postponement or cancellation of the tour is 2 days before departure.
• Food: At the MM Narcis hotel we have dinner on the first day of stay and breakfast on the second day.
• Accommodation: Hotel MM Narcis, double, triple and quadruple rooms with private bathrooms.
• Accident insurance: for this type of insurance to be active, you need to send us your number (JMBG) when registering.
• Reservation: prilikom prijave plaća se 40 % od ukupnog iznosa tj. 4520  dinara, ostatak najkasnije do 01. juna 2024.

• Trip cancellations by passengers:
  If the Traveler cancels the trip in a timely manner (90 to 45 days), the Organizer has the right to compensation only for the incurred administrative costs.

  • 10% if the trip is cancelled 44 to 30 days before the start of the trip,
  • 20% if cancelled 29 to 20 days before the start of the trip,
  • 40% if cancelled 19 to 15 days before the start of the trip,
  • 80% if canceled 14 to 10 days before the start of the trip,
  • 90% if canceled 9 to 6 days before the start of the trip,
  • 100% if cancelled 5 to 0 days before the start of the trip or during the trip.
