Kanjon Mrtvice&Moračke planine
Location
The Moračke Mountains are located in the central part of Montenegro and represent the continuation of the Lola mountain ridge. They got their name from the Morača River, which flows through these areas. This area is known for its natural beauty and wealth of different natural phenomena. In the east and northeast, they end with the valley of the Morača River, in the west with the canyon of the Mrtvice River, while to the south of them are the sharp ridges of the Maganik mountain. Moračke mountains have a Dinaric direction. The highest peaks are Lastva (2.226 m), Zagradac (2.217 m), Stožac (2.141 m) and Vojnovac (2.072 m).
On this weekend tour, we will pass through the beautiful Mrtvica Canyon and experience its wild beauty. Mrtvice Canyon will show all its power in May when the snow on the mountains melts completely and creates beautiful waterfalls along the entire course of the river. A particularly attractive place that we will visit is the "Gate of Wishes", a natural bridge located in the canyon. The following day, a hiking trail awaits us on the Morački mountains with three attractive peaks - Veliki Zebalac, Mali Zebalac, and Lijevno.

Second day: Hiking tour through Mrtvica Canyon

- Departure for a tour through Mrtvica Canyon. The departure is from the main road and across the bridge over the Morača River. Morača and Mrtvice join only a few meters away from the lower macadam parking lot and form a beautiful beach that we will enjoy after the tour. The first mystical place we visit is Gate of Desire - a place on the river Mrtvica that is of exceptional beauty. Nature made a gate by joining two rocks through which you have to descend to reach the river. Legend has it that the gate is guarded by fairies from Maganik and there is even a ritual that we will do on the spot.
- We continue. The big springs are a special attraction Bijeli Nerini springs that erupt from the rocks at the foot of the Maganik mountain in the lower part of the canyon. In the days of a sudden influx of a large amount of water from the Maganik plateau, the well of Bijeli Nerin "bursts", which is a natural phenomenon when water droplets cover that part of the canyon, so protective raincoats are needed to pass through it on those days.
- After Nerin we come across Soliter, a natural passage through the rock that the JNA army widened for the villagers of the surrounding areas. We end at the so-called Beach. From there, we return mostly on the same road, at the Danilov bridge, we separate onto the road and pass through the village. Finishing at the confluence of two rivers. In the afternoon on the way back, a break in the Morača monastery.

Lola is a tame mountain, rich in water. In the summer period, its katuns come to life, where cattle herders from the municipalities of Kolašin and Šavnik live. Veliki Zebalac at 2.129 m, the highest peak of Mount Lola – named because it is always fresh on it – so what it is cold (zebe).
