Miroč Mountain is part of the Carpathian arc and one of the most mystical places in Eastern Serbia. For centuries, this mountain has been a source of legends, as well as a refuge for rare plant and animal species. Covered with dense forests and interspersed with rocky ridges, Miroč is a natural gem that holds silence, wilderness, and a wealth of biological diversity.

Miroč Mountain is characterized by the Štrbac peaks, which rise above the Djerdap Gorge and its narrowest part of the Danube in Europe. Veliki (Big) and Mali (Small) Štrbac are nature reserves and the most attractive parts of the Đerdap National Park, boasting diverse and relic vegetation.

Embark on an unforgettable hike through the heart of Djerdap National Park to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Serbia – the peak Veliki Štrbac (767 m), which towers over the deepest and narrowest part of the Danube in Europe. The trail leads from the Ploče viewpoint through the nature reserve, all the way to Veliki Štrbac, offering a magnificent view of the Djerdap Gorge and the mighty Danube. This is one of those sights that remain etched in memory forever.

To end the day, we offer an option for a panoramic boat ride through the Djerdap Gorge, passing through its most attractive part. During this ride, you will have the chance to enjoy a fantastic sunset that will complete this unique experience.

The Miroč mountain

It is one of the richest mountains in Serbia by number of caves, coves and hollows, as well as other speleological formations. There are more than sixty speleological locations on this mountain, some of which have already been researched, such as Lazareva Cave, while others, due to the inaccessibility and interior and other numerous obstacles, can be accessed only with full speleological equipment, therefore they have not yet been fully explored.

Since ancient times, Miroc has had a very important strategic role due to its geographical position and configuration of the terrain. The main road Via Danubius extended over the mountain. For that reason, it contained a number of buildings whose purpose was the protection of this Roman road. Many legends and tales describe folk heroes as the masters of this mountain.

The organizer of the tour is the travel agency Explore Balkans doo. With this program are valid General conditions of travel organizer and Rulebook on conducting tours by Explore Balkans doo.
